A prolific artist and teacher, Sue’s body of work includes hundreds of pieces depicting the area’s anthracite mining history, including “Anthracite Miners and Their Hallowed Ground” and “Coal Breaker Communities: Faded Memories.”

Andrew Hart
Architect
Growing up in Shickshinny, the Huber Breaker inspired Andrew to become an architect. Today, coal breakers are part of the architecture curriculum he teaches to university students.

Phil is a former miner with zest for life and the penchant to tell a good story. He also plays a mean fiddle.

As the Executive Director of the Eastern Coalition for Abandoned Mine Reclamation, Robert has dedicated his career to cleaning and restoring the region’s water and land and educating the community about the importance of preservation.

A distinguished sociologist and anthracite scholar, Bob has written books on a variety of regional topics, including the Agnes flood, Knox mine disaster, garment workers industry, Avondale mine disaster and anthracite labor wars, among others.
